Piedmont Atlanta Hospital earns spot for cardiac care on Newsweek list

Atlanta, Ga. (June 22, 2026) - Piedmont Atlanta Hospital earned a place for high-quality cardiac care through the Piedmont Heart Institute on Newsweek’s 2026 list of America’s Best Hospitals for Specialized Care. The award list can be viewed on Newsweek’s website.
This ranking identifies 1,375 leading hospitals across seven specialties, recognizing excellence in advanced medical care. The methodology incorporates expanded safety and quality indicators, including data from The Leapfrog Group, alongside accreditations and CMS measures. Reflecting the evolving landscape of specialized medicine, it provides a rigorous, trusted guide to help patients and families find high-quality care with confidence.
“We are honored to be recognized by Newsweek as one of the best hospitals in the country for cardiac care,” said Piedmont Atlanta Hospital CEO Patrick M. Battey, M.D. “National recognition of this caliber underscores the strength of our cardiovascular program, the expertise of our clinical teams and our commitment to advancing the future of heart care.”
Newsweek and Statista awarded the best hospitals based on four data sources:
- Hospital Quality Metrics: Medical indicators, e.g., data on quality of care for treatments, hygiene measures, patient safety, and waiting times.
- Recommendations from Medical Experts: Online survey among tens of thousands of doctors, health care professionals, and hospital managers
- Results from Patient Surveys: Survey of patient satisfaction with hospitalization
- Statista PROMs Implementation Survey: Optional online survey on the implementation and use of PROMs in hospitals.
A final score was calculated for each hospital based on these four pillars and their respective weights.
