Piedmont athletic trainer makes impact on student-athlete safety and care in Barrow county

Bethlehem, Ga. (June 16, 2026) - For Rosanna Jaramillo, MS, LAT, ATC, a career in athletic training began with a personal experience — and has grown into a calling that shapes the health and well-being of student-athletes every day.
Jaramillo, a certified and licensed athletic trainer with Piedmont Athens Regional Sports Medicine, serves as the outreach head athletic trainer at Bethlehem Christian Academy (BCA) in Bethlehem, Georgia. In that role, she provides comprehensive sports medicine care, from injury prevention and evaluation to emergency response and rehabilitation coordination.
Her work reflects Piedmont’s commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care beyond the walls of the hospital and directly into the communities it serves.
“I got hurt in college, met our athletic trainer, and instantly fell in love with what she did,” Jaramillo said. “That experience showed me how impactful this profession can be.”
Today, Jaramillo channels that passion into caring for dozens of student-athletes across multiple sports, often in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
“During the school year, it’s pure chaos,” she said. “It’s an adrenaline rush getting through multiple athletes all at once while trying to get them back to practice as quickly and safely as possible.”
As a Licensed Athletic Trainer in Georgia and certified by the Board of Certification, Jaramillo brings advanced medical expertise directly to the sidelines — something she says is often misunderstood.
“A lot of people don’t realize that athletic trainers are medical professionals,” she said. “We can diagnose injuries and guide rehabilitation, even outside of a traditional clinic setting.”
At BCA, Jaramillo plays a critical role in ensuring student-athletes receive timely and coordinated care. She works closely with families, coaches and orthopedic specialists at Piedmont Orthopedics and Sports Medicine to create a seamless continuum of care following injuries — a collaborative approach that reflects Piedmont’s focus on teamwork and clinical excellence.
Her responsibilities also include developing and rehearsing emergency action plans and maintaining ongoing education to stay current with best practices in injury prevention and recovery.
Beyond clinical care, Jaramillo is deeply invested in mentorship. She oversees the school’s student sports medicine assistant program, helping students gain hands-on experience in sports medicine and recognizing their achievements through nominations for honors such as the Piedmont Athens Regional Athlete of the Month.
Her impact, she says, extends well beyond injuries and treatment plans.
“There isn’t just one proud moment,” Jaramillo said. “It’s about creating lifelong memories with the athletes and building a fun, supportive environment. Celebrating their wins and being part of their journey — that’s what makes this job so meaningful.”
Through her dedication, expertise and passion, she continues to help ensure student-athletes at Bethlehem Christian Academy stay healthy, safe and ready to compete — advancing Piedmont’s mission to make a positive difference in every life and community it serves.
