Piedmont Athens Regional welcomes general surgeon George 'Bo' Godwin, MD
Athens, Ga. (September 30, 2026) – Piedmont Athens Regional has welcomed general surgeon George H. “Bo” Godwin IV, MD, to Piedmont Physicians General Surgery of Athens, located at 1010 Prive Avenue, Suite 400, in Athens.
Dr. Godwin is fellowship-trained in minimally invasive surgery and offers advanced treatments for hernias, foregut disorders, gallbladder disease, abdominal wall conditions, as well as a broad range of general surgery procedures. He uses advanced laparoscopic and robotic techniques to provide comprehensive, individualized care grounded in evidence-based medicine.
Dr. Godwin earned his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency at Prisma Health and a minimally invasive surgery fellowship at Hackensack University Medical Center.
