Published: August 13, 2026

Athens, Ga. (August 13, 2026) – The Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support at Piedmont Athens Regional will host a free nine-week Healing Grief Workshop this fall for individuals who have experienced the loss of a loved one through death. Participants do not need to be Piedmont patients, and the loss does not have to be cancer-related to attend.
The workshop will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesdays from September 23 through November 18, 2026, and is designed to provide education, support and practical tools for navigating the grieving process.
Participants will explore topics including understanding grief, stress management, remembering loved ones, anniversaries, memorialization, role changes and finding closure. The program also offers an opportunity for individuals to connect with others who are experiencing similar journeys.
The workshop is free, but pre-registration is required, and space is limited. Individuals interested in participating can register by calling 706.475.4900.
