Piedmont Athens Regional Auxiliary announces 2026 scholarship opportunity

Athens, Ga. (April 8, 2026) — The Piedmont Athens Regional Auxiliary is accepting applications for its 2026 scholarship program to support students pursuing careers in the healthcare field.

Students must be enrolled in or accepted to a higher educational institution within the state of Georgia with the intention of earning a degree in a healthcare field. Freshmen entering college as well as current students are eligible to apply.

Applicants must be residents of the 17-county area served by Piedmont Athens Regional. Eligible counties include Athens-Clarke, Banks, Barrow, Elbert, Franklin, Greene, Habersham, Jackson, Madison, Morgan, Oconee, Oglethorpe, Stephens, Taliaferro, Walton and Wilkes counties.

Applicants are required to submit an official transcript with the online application. Transcripts must be current and issued by the educational institution to ensure accuracy and authenticity. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale, or an equivalent high school grade average of B or higher.

In addition, applicants must submit a 600- to 1,000-word essay explaining why they are pursuing a career in healthcare and outlining the steps they plan to take to achieve their career goals.

At least two letters of recommendation are also required to be uploaded with the application. The letters must be from a teacher, counselor, supervisor or member of the clergy and include a current date, signature on the appropriate letterhead. Applicants must also participate in a personal interview with the Piedmont Athens Regional Auxiliary Scholarship Committee to be considered for the scholarship.
