Organizations unite to host 4th annual Safe Sleep for Babies symposium
Columbus, Ga. (September 25, 2026) – The Safe Sleep Community Council, comprised of representatives from organizations like Piedmont Columbus Regional, Safe Kids Columbus, Georgia Department of Public Health, UGA Cooperative Extension, Childcare Resource and Referral, St. Francis Hospital and more will host a symposium to educate the public on safe sleep practices for babies.
The event will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 7 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bill and Olivia Amos Children’s Hospital in Columbus or virtually via Zoom.
The symposium target audience is parents, caregivers and professionals like nurses, medical students, health care providers, childcare directors and others. Attendees must pre-register online. Registered attendees for the in-person session will receive a free boxed lunch.
The keynote speaker is Samuel Hanke, M.D., a pediatric cardiologist and President of Charlie’s Kids Foundation. Drawing on personal experience, Dr. Hanke will share practical tools and techniques designed to spark meaningful changes across generations and help every caregiver build an actionable, real-world plan for safe sleep.
