Fayetteville, Ga. (August 25, 2026) –September is Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month and Mitzie-Ann Davis, MD, MPH, FACOG, a gynecologic oncologist at Piedmont Fayette Hospital, will address awareness of the different types of gynecological cancers and their risk factors and symptoms at a lunch event at the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, Sept. 24.
Every year, more than 100,000 women are diagnosed with a gynecologic cancer. These are cancers that start in the reproductive organs and are often detected late because many of the symptoms are often attributed to common, less serious ailments.
“Women should be in tune with their bodies so that they can spot changes, and they should continue to get regular physicals and gynecological examinations,” Dr. Davis said. “This session will help with awareness and increase chances of early detection and successful treatment.”
Dr. Davis has been with Piedmont Fayette for 10 years. In that time, she has performed over 1,000 surgical procedures and has become close to her patients and the community.
The event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce (600 W. Lanier Ave. Suite 205, in Fayetteville). A light lunch will be provided.
