John B. Amos Cancer Center hosts free prostate cancer screenings

Columbus, Ga. (September 20, 2025) – September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, and Piedmont Columbus Regional offered free prostate cancer screenings for men ages 40-69 on Sept. 20 at the John B. Amos Cancer Center. Nearly 125 men took advantage of the free screening. No pre-registration or appointment was needed.
“African American men and those with a family history have a higher risk of developing prostate cancer,” said John B. Amos Cancer Center radiation oncologist Eugene Charles Fortune IV, M.D. “Help us strike out cancer by knowing your numbers and learning what's at stake. Prostate cancers detected early typically have the highest cure rates.”
