Athens, Ga. (September 16, 2026) – Piedmont Athens Regional will host a free Stop the Bleed training from 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, at the Piedmont Oconee Health Campus, 1305 Jennings Mill Road in Watkinsville. The class will be held in Conference Room 2 on the first floor of the East Wing.

The training is open to all interested community members, and no medical experience is required. Participants will learn how to recognize life-threatening bleeding, apply direct pressure, pack a wound and correctly use a tourniquet until emergency responders arrive.

Piedmont Athens Regional’s trauma outreach coordinator and a community outreach nurse will lead the training. The instructors will provide hands-on guidance to help participants respond quickly and confidently during a bleeding emergency.

Stop the Bleed is a national campaign that empowers bystanders to take action and help save lives when severe bleeding occurs.

Attendance is free, but advance registration is requested. Community members may register for the Stop the Bleed training. For questions, email heather.bailey@piedmont.org or evamae.carignan@piedmont.org.
