Piedmont Heart cardiologists often serve as thought leaders in the field. Recent research includes articles published in prestigious journals and key roles in two new devices that were approved by the FDA.
- Vivek Rajagopal, M.D. and Chris Meduri, M.D. were authors on a Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) article about the REPRISE III valve trial. Piedmont’s Marcus Heart Valve Center was the highest enrolling site in this trial.
- Arun Krishnamoorthy, M.D. was an author on a New England Journal of Medicine article about the MOMENTUM 3 groundbreaking trial studying left ventricular assist devices (LVADs). “Trials like this allow the Samsky Advanced Heart Failure Center team to deliver better advanced surgical options to our heart failure population,” says Julie Webster, senior director, advanced heart failure.
- David Kandzari, M.D., was principal investigator for the U.S. clinical study of the Sapphire II PRO coronary balloon recently approved by the FDA. Dr. Kandzari also led the BIONICS study upon which the FDA recently approved the EluNIR drug-eluting stent.
