Monroe, Ga. (June 25, 2026) - Piedmont Walton Hospital is partnering with the American Red Cross to host a blood drive on Thursday, July 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the hospital’s Medical Office Building, 2151B W. Spring St., Suite 100.

“Donating blood is a simple act that has an immediate and lifesaving impact,” said Cari Bailey, director of community relations at Piedmont Walton Hospital. “Right now, blood supplies are low nationwide, and one donation helps ensure patients in our community have access to the care they need, especially during the summer.”

Blood donations remain critically important. Someone in the United States needs blood every two seconds, and one donation can help save more than one life. Hospitals rely on a steady blood supply for trauma care, surgeries, cancer treatments and to treat other chronic conditions.

The need is especially urgent during the summer months, when donations often decline due to travel, school breaks and weather disruptions, even as demand increases from accidents and seasonal activities. Because blood cannot be manufactured, it must come from volunteer donors, making each donation essential to maintaining the nation’s blood supply.

The July 2 blood drive comes just ahead of the Independence Day holiday, a time when travel and celebrations can further strain the blood supply. As the nation approaches the 250th anniversary of American independence, donating blood offers a meaningful way to give back and support the health of communities across the country.

The Red Cross recommends eating iron-rich foods, drinking plenty of water and getting adequate rest the night before donating. A photo ID is required. For more information or to schedule an appointment, visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS.
