Dr. Kuzniak earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia and completed his residency and fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He received his undergraduate degree in biological engineering from the University of Georgia and is board certified in general surgery. Dr. Kuzniak is interested in surgical economics, in which he works to improve the processes that allow physicians to deliver a higher quality of care at a lower cost. He is active in the Atlanta community, and has served on the Board of Directors of Youth Encouragement Services. Dr. Kuzniak welcomes new patients and accepts most insurance plans.
Dr. David Schmidt is a board-certified general surgeon who has returned to Piedmont to continue his general surgery practice. He joins Piedmont physicians group after practicing for years and Gwinnett.
Dr. Schmidt specializes in minimally invasive surgical techniques, being a leader and innovator in laparoscopic and robotic general surgery. He has champion the hernia center of excellence recently achieved by Piedmont Atlanta.
He enjoys a healthy and active lifestyle with his wife, Nancy, and frequently walks the Chastain neighborhood with their dog, Shiloh. Their son’s are graduates of Georgia and Georgia Tech, enjoying their careers in insurance law, and the start up world with slip robotics.
Dr. Mims earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia and completed his residency in general surgery at Emory University affiliated hospitals, where he later acted as Chief Resident in surgery. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia in biochemistry and is board certified in general surgery. Dr. Mims has previously worked as a clinical instructor of surgery at Emory University, and was also an associate examiner for The American Board of Surgery. He is a member of many societies including the American Medical Association, the American Hernia Society and the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons. Dr. Mims welcomes new patients and accepts most insurance plans.
