Happy birthday! As you celebrate a new year of life, we encourage you to take time for your health. As a man, it’s easy to overlook your health until something goes wrong, but prevention is the key to staying strong and living longer.


That's why it's important to schedule an annual physical with a primary care physician to assess your total-body health. Your doctor will do a full-body exam and run lab work using blood or urine samples to check your cholesterol, blood sugar, kidney function, liver function, and potassium, sodium and iron levels. He or she will also check your blood pressure and weight.


If you are 50 or older, you will also need a yearly prostate exam.
