Piedmont Augusta Foundation events

The Jernigan Memorial Golf Tournament

Piedmont Augusta Foundation will host members of the community for its annual Jernigan Memorial Golf Tournament and Celebration in support of low-dose CT (LDCT) lung cancer screenings. Lung Cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States. Early detection of lung cancer though LDCT significantly improves survival outcomes and reduces long-term treatment costs. When detected at an early stage, five-year survival rates improve significantly; however, many individuals who qualify for LDCT screening face barriers such as lack of insurance or limited access to preventive services. Funds raised through the Jernigan Golf Tournament and Celebration will be used to provide low-dose CT lung cancer screenings for underinsured and uninsured individuals. This includes screening costs, physician interpretation and follow-up visits, care coordination and navigation support, and patient education related to lung health and screening. Piedmont Augusta is committed to Stage Shifting lung cancer, effectively increasing the percentage of lung cancers being diagnosed in the early stages, leading to substantially improved survival rates. Join us to Change the Course of Lung Cancer!
