Electrophysiology track

The Electrophysiology track of the PHI PA/NP Fellowship is a collaborative 12-month program where the fellow will have the opportunity to work alongside leading cardiovascular providers from multiple cardiovascular subspecialties in a system wide opportunity. The predominant focus of training will remain at the quaternary level cardiovascular center with the Inpatient Electrophysiology Service at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital.

The year will focus on the entire spectrum of arrhythmia initiation and its management including supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias, atrioventricular blocks and cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIED) along with the initiation and management of antiarrhythmic drugs. Through a multidisciplinary approach, fellows will learn how dysrhythmias occur in the context of multitude cardiovascular pathologies from patients spanning medical and surgical ICUs and telemetry care, along with post-procedural management and outpatient evaluations. In addition, fellows will rotate through inpatient cardiology, Advanced Heart Failure, Marcus Heart Valve Center, Cardiac Critical Care, Cardiovascular Surgical Critical Care, Ambulatory EP Clinic, Cardiac Electrophysiology Lab, and Cardiac Implantable Electronic Device Clinic. The fellow will have the opportunity to select two elective rotations, which can be from the Core 8 rotations or from teams within Piedmont Heart.

Learning Objectives for this Fellowship Program are based on the Heart Rhythm Society’s Core Concepts in Electrophysiology for Allied Professionals. Reading assignments will be listed for each rotation and parallel the objectives for the rotation. The fellow can expect to give quarterly case presentations and take quarterly exams and assessments. The EP track aims to provide a well-rounded Electrophysiology APP with strong cardiovascular competency through our multi-subspecialty approach.
