Transitional year wellness and conferences

Overview

Wellness retreats are held in the Fall and Spring with additional smaller lecture series/games held in conjunction with IM.

Monthly journal club and longitudinal research didactics.

Business of medicine and patient safety: Quarterly recurring sessions geared towards education in finances, contracts, insurances, fellowship and career guidance etc. and discussion of sentinel events.

Morning report: Sponsored by Internal Medicine, attendance by transitional year residents is required when on medicine rotations and encouraged when possible while on electives.

Noon conference: Sponsored by Internal Medicine, attendance by transitional year residents is required when on medicine rotations and encouraged while on electives. Recurring sessions where faculty and residents prepare topics within the ABIM content specifications to enhance the medical knowledge of colleagues.

Grand rounds: Monthly sessions on current or interesting medical topics and advancements to enhance clinical reasoning and knowledge.

Journal club: Each resident leads a journal club session. The resident selects the article and leads the audience through a critical analysis of the study.

Weekly USMLE Step 3 preparation sessions: Transitional Year residents participate in weekly USMLE Step 3 sessions featuring high-yield content review, practice questions, clinical cases and test-taking strategies. These sessions strengthen clinical reasoning and build exam confidence.

Annual Research Day
