Nursing Scholars Program FAQs
- Students enrolled in a licensed practical nurse (LPN), associate degree in nursing (ADN ), bachelor of science in nursing (BSN), or pre-licensure Master of Science in Nursing - Clinical Nurse Leader (MSN-CNL) at an accredited college or university in Georgia, Alabama or South Carolina.
- The applicant must submit an essay (500 words or less) discussing their reasons for choosing nursing as a career and what it means to them to be a Piedmont nurse.
- Submit two (2) letters of recommendation from current faculty.
- Applications will be screened for completeness and finalists will be scheduled for a virtual interview with members of the Piedmont Nursing Scholars Selection Committee.
The scholarship is $2,500 per semester, up to a total of $10,000 over four semesters.
For each semester the scholar accepts a scholarship, the scholar agrees to work as a paid staff nurse at one of our Piedmont hospitals. The service repayment period begins on the first day of full-time employment as a staff nurse.
Nursing scholars are not eligible for a sign-on bonus.
The scholar must apply for, qualify for, accept and begin continuous full-time employment in a position offered by Piedmont within six months of graduation.
Applicants must submit two (2) letters of recommendation from current faculty at their college or university. If you are an incoming nursing student, recommendations can be from faculty of your graduating institution.
Faculty can submit a recommendation using a standardized form through our recommendation portal. Applicants need to provide the faculty member with the link.
Scholars will be prioritized for interview at their desired Piedmont hospital location and specialty. The scholar will go through the normal hiring process and must meet all prehire requirements. There is no guarantee that the scholar will be offered a position in their first choice of specialty and/or location.
Compensation discussions will occur with the recruiter during the application and hiring process.
Positions for the nurse residency program are posted on the Piedmont Careers website at the beginning of each semester (August, January and June). You should apply at the beginning of your final semester of nursing school.
