Athens, Ga. (June 12, 2025) – Piedmont Athens Regional recently hosted ‘Save a Life Day’, a free community event offering hands-on training in emergency response techniques. The event was held at Piedmont Athens Regional as part of the hospital’s Trauma Awareness Month activities.
“We want to empower our community with the knowledge and confidence to act in emergency situations,” said Eva Carignan, Trauma Injury Prevention and Outreach Coordinator at Piedmont Athens Regional. “Whether it’s stopping a severe bleeding injury or performing CPR, anyone can learn the skills that save lives.”
‘Save a Life Day’ featured multiple free training stations, including:
- Stop the Bleed Training – Participants learned how to provide immediate medical aid in emergency bleeding situations.
- Hands-Only CPR – Attendees discovered how this simple, effective technique can save lives during cardiac arrest at home, work, or in public.
- Safe Kids of Athens – Members of the public engaged with safety experts to learn techniques for protecting children ages 0–19 in areas such as vehicle and road safety, fire safety, water safety, wheeled sports and helmet safety, home and sports safety.
May is recognized as National Trauma Awareness Month, and the trauma team at Piedmont Athens Regional partnered with community organizations throughout the month, providing life-saving training and education about the trauma services available at Piedmont Athens.
