Piedmont Walton Presents Social Circle Police Officer David Kain with First Friday Hero Award

Monroe, Ga. (November 1, 2024) – Piedmont Walton Hospital has named Social Circle Police Officer David Kain the First Friday Hero for November.

Officer Kain was nominated by Social Circle Police Sergeant Brian Borek for representing “the very best of modern-day law enforcement and…the Social Circle Police Department.”

Officer Kain is credited with performing life-saving measures twice in July 2024. In early July, Officer Kain was dispatched to what appeared to be an overdose victim. He quickly assessed the scene and administered Narcan to the victim. By the time EMS arrived, the victim was conscious and responsive. Just a couple of weeks later, Officer Kain and his partner responded to a local nursing home, whose employee had called about a patient in cardiac arrest. Again, Officer Kain quickly assessed the situation and began helping the nursing home staff perform CPR before using an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) to resuscitate and stabilize the patient until EMS could arrive.

“Walton County first responders are vital to the safety and well-being of our communities,” said Piedmont Walton CEO Blake Watts. “Their line of work is often dangerous and often thankless, but impactful to so many. The First Friday Hero award allows us to make the community aware of what first responders do to make a positive difference in the lives of those they touch.”

Kain was recognized during a ceremony with his leaders, coworkers, and Piedmont Walton staff to recognize his selfless service to others.

“Officer Kain’s heroic actions saved two lives and his exceptional dedication to public service, professional competence, and outstanding professionalism contributes daily to the success, trust, and confidence of the Social Circle Police Department,” said Sgt. Borek.

Piedmont Walton launched the First Friday Hero program in February to recognize first responders who exceed the call of duty. Officer Kain is the fourth person to receive the award.
