Columbus, Ga. (April 2, 2024)— April is Donate Life Month and Piedmont Columbus Regional will host a free, educational event that is open to the public at its Midtown Campus Conference Center to promote organ donation and bring awareness to the gap in organ donors among minority populations.
The event will begin outdoors with a flag-raising ceremony then move inside where attendees will hear testimonials from organ transplant donors and recipients as well as enjoy education, games, raffles and more. Piedmont leadership, former NFL player Bobbie Howard (who is now a Georgia LifeLink representative) and Piedmont Transplant Institute leadership will speak at the event.
More than 103,000 people across the country (including more than 2,900 Georgians) are still waiting for their gifts of life, and hundreds of thousands more could benefit from the gift of tissue donation. One person has the ability to save up to eight lives through organ donation and can enhance up to 75 lives through tissue donation. Visit LifeLinkFoundation.org or call 1-800-544-6667 for more information about organ and tissue donation.
