Piedmont Eastside Names September First Friday Hero

Snellville, Ga (September 12, 2023) – Piedmont Eastside Medical Center has named Gwinnett County Fire Medics 13 Ethan Ramey and Angelos Cueto; along with Air Evac 117 members Olivia Blevins and Ryan Archibald the hospital’s First Friday Hero for the month of September. This program was created by Piedmont to recognize first responders who go above and beyond the call of duty each month.

These brave men and women made sure to get a critically ill patient transported, safely, during a very serious thunderstorm. Thanks to the interagency collaboration between Piedmont Eastside, Gwinnett County Fire, and Air Evac, they were able to do a seamless transportation of a patient on a balloon pump. This pump is used in cardiac events, such as when a patient is in shock or heart failure, and even though the road conditions were not great, they were able to get the patient to the hospital and allow him or her to receive life-saving care. This is an act of going over and above the call of duty, and we want to honor this group for their commitment to keeping our community safe.

The First Friday Hero presentation was held for all four members, Gwinnett County Fire leadership, and hospital leadership on September 8 to commend them for thier assistance in making the community safer.

“What these brave men and women do is often a thankless job, and we want to make the community aware of our local heroes and all they do to make Gwinnett County a better and safer place.” said Piedmont Eastside Medical Center CEO Larry Ebert.
