Piedmont and Ghost Gaming Partner to Keep Georgia Gamers Healthy

Atlanta (Oct. 25, 2022) – Piedmont and Atlanta-based gaming and esports organization Ghost Gaming are partnering toward health and wellness programming and activations for amateur and professional videogame players across Georgia.

As part of the partnership, Piedmont becomes the exclusive health-care partner of the Georgia Esports League (GEL).

GEL operates and broadcasts esports competitions between colleges and universities throughout the state of Georgia regardless of size or conference affiliation, including four-year universities, two-year technical colleges, and Historically Black Colleges and Universities.  For the Fall of 2022, Georgia colleges are competing in the popular game Rocket League with the Finals hosted in conjunction with the Esports Summit event on Friday, Nov. 18.

“Piedmont empowers Georgians by helping them to reach their full potential,” said Piedmont Chief Marketing Officer Douwe Bergsma. “We are excited to partner with an organization that is at the forefront of technology and is helping Georgia to grow. With Piedmont having more than 1,400 locations that serve communities across the state and with GEL competitors being located all over Georgia, it’s a natural fit for Piedmont to partner with Ghost Gaming and the Georgia Esports League”.

For GEL college competitors and Ghost Gaming’s professional competitors, Piedmont and Ghost Gaming will provide guidance regarding the importance of physical, mental, and nutritional wellbeing to competitive and professional success.

“Partnering with Piedmont allows us to highlight the importance of physical health and mental health with our Ghost Gaming competitors and across the broader gaming community,” said Todd Harris, Ghost Gaming CEO.  “Piedmont’s capabilities and health care network extends across the entire state, allowing us to activate and educate with colleges across Georgia and help establish the right wellness practices at those college esports programs.”

Piedmont will also present on gaming and wellness at the Esports Summit business event hosted in Atlanta on Nov. 17-18.  Esports Summit is a conference of global thought leaders in gaming and esports that occurs before the DreamHack Atlanta gaming festival.
