Neurologist Leads Piedmont Fayette’s Walk with a Doc in September

Fayetteville, Ga. (September 8, 2022) – Nearly one in six people suffer from neurologic disorders such as Parkinson’s Disease, Alzheimer’s, strokes, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, and migraines, among others. Because our nervous system connects our bodies to the world around us through the basic senses, walking and speaking, it is important recognize the symptoms of these disorders and when to seek medical care. Join Evan Johnson, M.D., MSc, a neurologist at Piedmont Fayette Hospital, on Sept. 17 for Piedmont Fayette’s Walk with a Doc event.

Participants will learn about common neurologic disorders and the symptoms that accompany them. Dr. Johnson will also talk about the advanced treatments available to help patients manage these conditions and receive the best outcome in the long run.

Prior to medical school, Dr. Johnson earned his Master's degree in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Texas at Houston and spent several years working at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center's Medical Physics / Imaging Research Lab. He ultimately pursued his first love, earning his Medical Degree at the University of Texas at Houston and completing a Neurology residency and Movement Disorders fellowship at Vanderbilt. His practice interests are most centered around advanced treatments for Parkinson's Disease and Essential Tremor, including Deep Brain Stimulation and programming. He is also adept at Botox procedures for Migraine, Sialorrhea, Dystonia, and Spasticity.

“We are thrilled for the opportunity to introduce Dr. Johnson to the community,” said Paige Muh, Manager of Community Relations for Piedmont Fayette. “This will be a fascinating and informative walk as we focus on the brain and the nervous system.”

Walk with a Doc takes place on the third Saturday of every month from June through October. The walks start promptly at 8:30 a.m. at the Peachtree City Farmers Market at Aberdeen Village and go to Battery Park and back (approximately 40 minutes). Walk participants are encouraged to shop with Peachtree City Market vendors after the walk.

Walk with a Doc is free, but reservations are required. Email PFHRSVP@piedmont.org to save your spot.
