Surgeon Leads Piedmont Fayette's July Walk with a Doc

Fayetteville, Ga. (July 5, 2022) – Whether your physician recommends a common operation, or you need an emergency surgery, a general surgeon often performs the procedure. James Franklin, M.D., a surgeon practicing at Piedmont Fayette Hospital will lead the hospital’s Walk with a Doc on Saturday, July 16.

Dr. Franklin joined the medical staff at Piedmont Fayette in 2011. His practice includes the full range of general surgery and he has had a distinguished career in laparoscopic and robotic surgery. He was the first surgeon in the Piedmont health system to complete gallbladder removal with the da Vinci robot, and also was the first ever utilizing a single incision in the umbilicus. He is one of a very few surgeons in the country utilizing this technique.

“Piedmont Fayette has an outstanding surgical services department and Dr. Franklin has a wealth of experience and expertise that he is eager to share,” said Paige Muh, Manager of Community Relations for Piedmont Fayette. “Those participating on this walk are certain to learn a lot.”

Walk with a Doc takes place on the third Saturday of every month from June through October. The walks start promptly at 8:30 a.m. at the Peachtree City Farmers Market at Aberdeen Village and go to Battery Park and back (approximately 40 minutes). Walk participants are encouraged to shop with Peachtree City Market vendors after the walk.

Walk with a Doc is free, but reservations are required. Email PFHRSVP@piedmont.org to save your spot.
