Covington, Ga. (February 6, 2019) – Piedmont Physicians Group announced today that pediatric physician Samira Brown, M.D., is opening a new Covington pediatric practice and will begin seeing patients on February 11, 2019.

Dr. Brown is relocating to Georgia from New Orleans, where she has treated pediatric patients for more than 10 years, most recently at Ochsner Hospital for Children. She offers care for newborns through adolescence and has a special interest in breastfeeding, childhood obesity, health disparities and early literacy.

Dr. Brown received her Doctor of Medicine degree in 2005 from Harvard Medical School in Boston. She completed her internship and residency in pediatrics at Boston Medical Center and Boston Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Brown is dedicated to providing safe, high-quality service and has extensive experience from her involvement and leadership in hospital committees including the Labor and Delivery Safety Committee, Baby Friendly Committee, the Vaccine Sub-Committee, and Professional Affairs Committee.

In addition, Dr. Brown offers her expertise as a local news medical consultant and subject matter expert. She has received numerous awards including The Best Doctors In America®, Vitals Patients’ Choice Award, Ebony Magazine Future Leader Award, Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellow, and the Patti Labelle Emerging Scholar Award to name a few.
