Current Responsibilities
Steven Wagner joined the Piedmont Healthcare Foundation team in 2022 and manages donor relationships through meaningful contact and engagement with the purpose of driving significant support for Piedmont. Steven maintains a portfolio of donors with a focus on securing 6-figure and above gifts. Steven also is responsible for helping develop overall foundation strategy with a focus on grateful patient program expansion.
Prior Experience
Steven has over 17 years of experience in healthcare development. Prior to joining Piedmont, Steven was the Executive Director of Development for the Erlanger Health System Foundation in Chattanooga, TN where he was responsible for managing a team of six development professionals and successfully led the completion of the largest fundraising campaign in hospital history, raising over $30 million in support of the construction of the Children’s at Erlanger Kennedy Outpatient Center. Before his work at Erlanger, Steven was a part of the Emory Healthcare Development Leadership responsible for raising over $250 million annually in support of Emory Healthcare and its academic medical mission. Steven’s initial work in healthcare philanthropy was at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, where he spent 12 years and created the grateful patient program, assisted in the creation of community boards throughout the metro Atlanta area and secured significant donations for programs like ECMO and Simulation.
Education, Awards and Community
Steven received his bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Georgia. He has served as a member of the Critical Incident Stress Management team at two organizations, helped as a trainer in the Leadership Development Institute at Erlanger and is an accomplished speaker on topics such as fundraising, teamwork, customer service and general motivation. Steven is involved in coaching youth soccer in his local area.
