Athens, Ga. (November 19, 2025) — Piedmont Athens Regional joined organizations nationwide Tuesday in recognizing National Injury Prevention Day, an annual event dedicated to raising awareness about injury prevention and promoting safety in communities.
Preventable injuries are a leading cause of death and disability for Americans ages 1 through 44. Injuries are not accidents, and most can be prevented through education. National Injury Prevention Day empowers individuals and communities with the tools and information they need to create safer environments for everyone.
To mark the day, Piedmont Athens Regional, Safe Kids Athens, and other community organizations partnered to host a Safety Station Fair at Pinewoods Community Library, featuring hands-on demonstrations and resources for families. Stations included:
- Booster Seat Safety
- Safe Sleep
- Pedestrian/Bike Safety
- Hands-Only CPR
- Stop the Bleed
- Fall Prevention
- Home Fire Safety
- Motor Vehicle Safety
- Gun Safety
As part of the national “Turn a Light on Safety” initiative, the exterior lights of Piedmont Athens Regional glowed green on Nov. 18 to symbolize the hospital’s commitment to injury prevention.
