Atlanta, Ga. (October 16, 2025) – Piedmont Oncology announces that four new medical oncologists, one radiation oncologist, and three surgical specialists have joined its practices since August 2025. Its multidisciplinary teams specialize in the diagnosis and care of patients with primary or metastatic cancer or hematology issues.
Amy Edwards has also been hired as the Vice President of Piedmont Oncology, a new role supporting cancer care and services across the system. Over 14,500 newly diagnosed cancer patients were cared for across Piedmont Healthcare in 2024.

The eight newest physician team members are:
Deepti Kantamani, M.D., Piedmont Columbus Regional, Medical Oncology/Hematology
Dr. Kantamani is board certified in Hematology and board eligible for Medical Oncology. She has significant experience in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with hematologic or oncologic diseases and has participated in multidisciplinary tumor boards to develop and implement patient-specific treatment plans. Dr. Kantamani is fluent in English, Hindi, and Telugu.
Amalia Bonano-Rios, M.D., Piedmont Henry, Medical Oncology
Dr. Bonano-Rios earned her medical degree from Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara in Mexico and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the VA Caribbean Healthcare System in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where she served as Chief Resident. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and board eligible in Medical Oncology and Hematology. She completed her fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at Memorial Healthcare System in Hollywood, FL. Dr. Bonano-Rios focuses on the care of patients with solid tumors, including breast and lung cancers, as well as high-risk and hereditary cancer syndromes. Her special interests include precision medicine, molecular oncology and immuno-oncology.
Katherine Bingmer, M.D., Piedmont Atlanta, Surgical Oncology
Dr. Bingmer is a board-certified general surgeon and a fellowship-trained surgical oncologist and hepatopancreatobiliary surgeon. She earned her medical degree from The Ohio State University, did her residency in general surgery and clinical research fellowship at University Hospitals Cleveland and her surgical oncology fellowship at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Bingmer cares for patients with benign and malignant processes of the liver, pancreas, gallbladder, or biliary system. She has a special interest in primary and metastatic cancer of the liver, including hepatocellular carcinoma, cholangiocarcinoma, and metastatic colorectal cancer.
Indu Sitala Voruganti, M.D., Piedmont Atlanta, Radiation Oncology
Dr. Voruganti specializes in advanced radiation therapy and radiosurgery. She is board-certified in Canada, and board-eligible in the U.S. Dr. Voruganti has published on lung and head/neck cancers in leading medical journals. She also holds a Master's in Narrative Medicine from Columbia University, based on her strong belief of integrating humanism and reflection into clinical care. Dr. Voruganti completed her clinical fellowship in radiation oncology at Stanford University, and her radiation oncology residency at Princess Margaret Cancer Center and Odette Cancer Center at the University of Toronto. She is committed to helping patients and their families to understand diagnosis and treatment options and partnering with the patient to make shared decisions and achieve the best possible outcome.
Fiona Denham, M.D., Piedmont Athens Regional, Breast Surgery
Dr. Denham is a board-certified general surgeon specializing in breast surgery. She completed her surgical fellowship training at the University of Arkansas where she received extensive training in diseases of the breast. She joins Piedmont from northern Indiana, where she practiced breast surgery for eight years. With expertise in breast cancer, high-risk conditions, and benign tumors, Dr. Denham offers a range of treatments, including breast conservation surgery and image-guided biopsies. She prioritizes patient education and individualized care, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Munizay Paracha, M.D., Piedmont Rockdale, Hematology, Oncology
Dr. Paracha received her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine, where she also completed her residency in internal medicine. She completed her fellowship in hematology and oncology at East Carolina University Medical Center in Greenville, N.C. She is board certified in internal medicine. Dr. Paracha is currently researching the barriers to mental health care among cancer patients, including diagnosing and providing care for depression and anxiety. She has contributed to more than 10 publications on oncology-related health care issues and is an active member of the American Society of Hematology and Clinical Oncology. Dr. Paracha is fluent in English, Urdu/Hindi, and Spanish.
Sami Ali, M.D., Piedmont Eastside, Medical Oncology
Dr. Ali received his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean. He completed his internal medicine residency and fellowship in hematology/oncology at New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. Dr. Ali is board certified in hematology and oncology and has a special interest in caring for patients with hematologic malignancies and solid tumors. He most recently worked at The Oncology Institute in Los Angeles where he provided comprehensive care for patients with hematologic and oncologic conditions, developed and implemented individualized treatment plans, and participated in clinical research and quality improvement initiatives.
Brett Scott Walker, M.D., Piedmont Rockdale, Surgical Oncology
Dr. Walker earned his doctorate in medicine from Texas A&M Health Science Center in Bryan, Texas, and completed his general surgery internship and residency, and research fellowship at the Knight Cancer Institute, at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Ore. He recently completed his clinical fellowship in complex general surgical oncology at Emory University. He recently completed a three-year oncology research fellowship at Winship Cancer Institute focused on cancer biomarkers and developmental pathways important to cancer progression and had previously focused on research regarding gastrointestinal and hepato-pancreato-biliary cancers.

Amy Edwards, Vice President, Piedmont Oncology
Edwards served as the Vice President of Business Transformation for Emory Healthcare for the past three years. She was previously the Director of Care Standardization and Optimization for the Winship Cancer Institute and also worked as a Nursing Specialty Director there. She has more than seven years’ experience working in an oncology setting, with four years in a nurse/caregiver role. She earned her bachelor’s in nursing from Johns Hopkins University and her master’s in nursing from Emory University. She has significant experience in operational transformation, strategic planning, and clinical excellence. Her focus at Piedmont will be to lead the strategic growth of our oncology program, expanding access to cancer care across Georgia and the southeast.
