Cartersville, Ga. (October 2, 2025) – On September 25, 2025, at Piedmont Cartersville, the 2 Central unit had the honor of caring for Juanita and William, who were celebrating a remarkable milestone that day—their 62nd wedding anniversary.

Juanita shared with one of Piedmont Cartersville’s dedicated PCTs, Lisa Nichols, that she and her husband had a beloved tradition: every year on their anniversary, they would head to The Varsity for a lunch date, enjoying hot dogs and each other’s company. But as the afternoon progressed, it became clear that discharge wouldn’t happen in time for their annual outing.

That’s when the Piedmont Promise stepped in.

A fellow patient’s family member, touched by the story, offered to bless the couple with a Varsity meal. Lisa quickly coordinated the surprise, ensuring the couple received their hot dogs, complete with Varsity hats and a sweet bonus—a complimentary apple pie from the Varsity staff.

The couple was completely stunned and delighted. They wore their hats proudly, each signed with a cheerful “Happy Anniversary!” from the entire Varsity team, and enjoyed their meal with smiles that could rival the glow of the neon Varsity sign.
