Augusta, Ga. (September 30, 2025) – Piedmont Augusta Vascular Surgeon and Medical Director of Vascular Surgery Houman Tamaddon, M.D., has been named one of America’s Top 10 Vascular Surgeons for 2025 by Newsweek.
Dr. Tamaddon is a board-certified specialist known for his leadership in advanced vascular care. He is at the forefront of treating complex aortic conditions and performing minimally invasive endovascular procedures, with a particular focus on limb salvage and amputation prevention. His expertise includes complex aneurysm repair, carotid interventions and angioplasty, addressing a range of vascular diseases including atherosclerosis, carotid artery disease, pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Tamaddon contributes to research efforts in pulmonary embolism care, contributing to international studies aimed at improving patient outcomes.
Following his undergraduate education, Dr. Tamaddon earned his medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, N.Y., and completed both his general surgery residency and vascular surgery fellowship at the University of North Carolina, where he received advanced training in complex vascular procedures. Currently, Dr. Tamaddon is leading a regional effort in an international study focused on pulmonary embolism (PE) patients treated with thrombectomy, contributing to the advancement of care for this life-threatening condition.

•Physician Performance Data: Sixty percent of the total score is based on exclusive performance benchmark data sourced from Arcadia. Doctors’ performance was evaluated based on Episode of care data, including all medical episodes relevant to the respective specialties, as well as referral volume data.
•Online Survey by State: During the survey period from March to May 2025, thousands of medical experts (physicians with knowledge in the field of vascular surgery, managers/administrators and other medical professionals in the field of vascular surgery) were invited to an online survey via Newsweek.com.
•Quality Score: For recommendations in their own state, participants were asked to assess the quality of care (e.g., treatments, follow-up care, use of most recent equipment) for each vascular surgeon.
•Certifications: Board certifications by the American Board of Surgery were taken into consideration for all eligible vascular surgeons.
