Couple Continues Support of Piedmont Fayette with Golf Cart Donation

Fayetteville, Ga. (September 8, 2025) – Evelyn Rogers worked as a nurse at Piedmont Fayette Hospital from 2002 to 2025, and her husband, Philip, joined the hospital’s Auxiliary in 2019, volunteering as a courtesy cart driver around the campus, after a career as a businessman and middle school math teacher. The couple has deep ties to the hospital and the community and wanted to do something to honor that connection. At a brief ceremony on Friday morning, they donated $25,000 for a brand-new golf cart to join the fleet of courtesy carts at the hospital.

“Thanks to this generous donation we now have six courtesy carts in our fleet, operating for approximately 60 hours a week,” said Piedmont Fayette CEO Steve Porter. “As our campus continues to grow, these carts will be even more important for the safety and satisfaction of our patients and visitors.”

The Rogers decided to pursue a donation when Philip mentioned that the hospital could use another cart and they could help make it happen.

“God has certainly blessed us,” Philip said at the ceremony. “We were eager to share it.”

Evelyn has been a nurse for 44 years and is proud of the role that healthcare workers have in service of their communities.

“As a nurse, I have found joy doing things for others,” Evelyn said. “I know Philip has too. He enjoys driving around the campus and hopes to be doing it for many more years.”
