Fayetteville, Ga. (September 8, 2025) – Every year, more than 100,000 women are diagnosed with a gynecologic cancer. These are cancers that start in the reproductive organs and are often detected late because many of the symptoms are often attributed to common, less serious ailments. September is Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month and Mitzie-Ann Davis, M.D., MPH, FACOG, a gynecologic oncologist at Piedmont Fayette Hospital, will address awareness of the different types of gynecological cancers and their risk factors and symptoms at a lunch event in Griffin on Thursday, Sept. 25.
“Women should be in tune with their bodies so that they can spot changes, and they should continue to get regular physicals and gynecological examinations,” said Dr. Davis. “This session will help with awareness and increase chances of early detection and successful treatment.”
Dr. Davis has been with Piedmont Fayette for nine years. In that time, she has performed over 1,000 surgical procedures and become close to her patients and the community.
The event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at City Church Griffin, 220 E. Solomon St., Griffin. A light lunch will be provided. Space for this free event is limited. Please call 770-719-5758 or email PFHRSVP@piedmont.org to register.
