Columbus, Ga. (September 2, 2025) – Piedmont Columbus Regional recently hosted its annual Promise 360 Awards Celebration – recognizing the hospital’s monthly winners from the past year and naming two overall annual champions. The Promise 360 program celebrates the service and efforts of employees as they live out the Piedmont promise of making a positive difference in every life they touch.
Piedmont Columbus Midtown Labor and Delivery registered nurse Kayla Burford and Piedmont Columbus Northside CT technician Craig Murphy were named the annual champions.
Kayla recognized a pregnant woman’s tests were concerning and called a physician for a second look. The patient was asked to immediately come to the hospital and an emergency c-section was performed. The baby girl was successfully delivered and was able to go home after spending three weeks in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Craig was returning a patient to their room following an imaging test when he noticed the patient showing signs of a stroke (facial droop, vision changes and weakness on one side of the body). He alerted providers and a stroke alert was called. Team members administered a clot-busting medication and the patient’s symptoms began to resolve.
“We are about service above ourselves, and we put patients at the center of everything we do,” said Piedmont Columbus Regional CEO Scott Hill. “All our Promise 360 award winners exemplify the very best that Piedmont stands for in our hospitals and community.”
The runners-up at this year’s award ceremony were respiratory therapist Tonya Davis, oncology infusion registered nurse Vidal Rodriguez, registered nurse Kathy Stelmack and CT technician Breanna Wilson.
Also at the awards luncheon, team members with 50+ years of service were recognized: Ann Hallford (55 years), M A Dowdell (54 years), Brenda Galloway (52 years), Jackie Kindrick (51 years), Barbara Gallups (51 years) and Phyllis Williams (50 years).
Employees, hospital visitors, patients and their family members may make a Promise 360 nomination online by visiting Piedmont.org/Promise360 or filling out a paper nomination located throughout all Piedmont facilities. The overall winner from each hospital in the Piedmont system, like Kayla and Craig, becomes a nominee for the President’s Award, which will be presented later this year.
