Atlanta, Ga. (August 5, 2025) – Piedmont Heart Institute at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital has been named best in the State of Georgia for cardiology, heart and vascular surgery in 2025-2026 rankings by U.S. News and World Report.
“This honor reflects the commitment of our entire team at Piedmont Heart to making a positive difference through clinical excellence,” said David Kandzari, M.D., head of Piedmont Heart Institute and Piedmont’s Cardiovascular Service Line. “As a result of their hard work, we have become a national destination for patients with complex cases seeking high-quality care.”
Piedmont Heart earned “high performing” status in all eight rated heart procedures and conditions:
- Abdominal aortic aneurysm repair
- Aortic valve surgery
- Heart attack
- Heart bypass surgery
- Heart failure
- Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR)
- Heart arrhythmia
- Pacemaker implantation
U.S. News and World Report rated Piedmont Atlanta as one of the top three hospitals in the Atlanta metropolitan area and top four in the State of Georgia. The publication also cited Piedmont Atlanta as “high performing” for gastroenterology and GI surgery as well as for cardiology, heart and vascular surgery; high-performing hospitals in a specialty are among the top 10% nationally for care in that area.

U.S. News evaluated more than 4,500 hospitals to determine the Best Hospitals for 2025-2026. The publication uses a variety of measures to determine its rankings, such as patient outcomes, nurse staffing, services and more. The annual Best Hospitals list is designed to help patients and providers identify hospitals that are superior in the kind of care they may need.
