Cartersville, Ga. (July 17, 2025) – The energy was electric and the pride palpable as Piedmont Cartersville Hospital rolled out the red carpet for its newest stars during the 2025 Nurse Residency Signing Day — a celebration that felt more like Draft Day meets Graduation Day.
Three standout recruits officially signed on to join Piedmont Cartersville’s Nurse Residency Program, bringing with them not only clinical excellence but deep roots in the Piedmont family.
Alexandria “Alex” Stodghill, a familiar face in the hospital’s float pool, has been a Patient Care Technician (PCT) at Piedmont Cartersville for the past year while earning her nursing degree from Georgia Highlands College. Known for her calm under pressure and compassionate care, Alex is already a fan favorite among staff and patients alike. Now, she’s trading in her PCT badge for RN credentials — and she’s just getting started.
Sidney Wilson, another homegrown talent, brings a unique edge to the team with her background as a paramedic and her experience in Piedmont Cartersville’s Cath Lab since 2022. Also, a Georgia Highlands graduate, Sidney is no stranger to high-stakes situations and is ready to bring her critical care skills to the bedside as a nurse.
And while she couldn’t be there in person, Heather Bowdoin is every bit a part of this powerhouse class. Heather has been a dedicated PCT on the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Piedmont Cartersville since 2021 while pursuing her nursing degree at Chamberlain University. Though she was soaking up some well-earned sunshine at the beach during the signing event, her commitment to care and growth shines just as brightly.
“This is a big day for us,” said Nurse Residency Coordinator Julie Jones. “We’re not just welcoming three new nurses — we’re celebrating three incredible professionals who’ve already proven their commitment to our mission and our patients. They’re part of the Piedmont family, and now they’re stepping into leadership roles on the front lines of patient care.”
With confetti, cheers, and plenty of selfies, the event marked more than just a milestone — it was a moment of pride and promise for the future of nursing at Piedmont Cartersville.
Congratulations to Alex, Sidney, and Heather as they take the next step in their nursing journey — your future in care leadership starts now!
