Stockbridge, Ga. (June 12, 2025) – A former nurse with the Henry County Health Department and former member of the Hospital Authority Board, Joyce Rodgers also served on the Piedmont Henry Hospital Board of Directors for three, four-year terms. To thank her for her service and her dedication to the health and well-being of citizens of Henry County, she was honored by the hospital’s board of directors by establishing a scholarship fund in her name. On Tuesday, June 10, Rodgers and leaders from Piedmont Henry honored eight students pursuing careers in healthcare with $3,500 scholarships. This is the fifth year the scholarships have been awarded.
“The scholarships are made possible by the efforts and generosity of Joyce, donors in the community, and the scholarship committee,” said Paula Butts, Chief Nursing Officer for Piedmont Henry. “They are committed to the health and well-being of Henry County, just as these students are committed to serving others and making a positive difference in every life they touch.”
This year’s scholarship winners were:
- Porscha Fauche – a patient care technician at Piedmont Henry attending Chamberlain University
- Norma Guevara-Diego – a nursing student at Georgia State University
- Gracie Haymons – a nursing student at Georgia College and State University
- Citlali Hernandez – a student in the Radiology Tech program at Southern Crescent Technical College
- Addison Lee Johnson – a recent graduate of Ola High School attending Georgia College and State University to become a nurse

- Camryn Waldo - a student in the Radiology Tech program at Southern Crescent Technical College
- Cassey Waldo – a student at Southern Crescent Technical College with ambitions of becoming an RN in the emergency department.
Scholarship selections were based on scholastic record, character, leadership qualities, participation in student and community activities, and interest and knowledge of a chosen healthcare career. Applications for the scholarship will open again next spring.
