Athens, Ga. (March 4, 2024) – The Breast Health Center at Piedmont Athens Regional recently extended its hours of operation, giving women in the community more opportunity to complete their annual screening mammogram. The center in the Medical Services Building on the Piedmont Athens Regional hospital campus is now open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays, and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays.
“We hope that by extending our hours, more women will now have the time to complete their annual screening mammogram, which we know is the best and earliest way to detect breast cancer or potential areas of concern,” explained Shelley McCarley, who is the clinical manager of the breast health program at Piedmont Athens Regional. “With early morning and late evening appointments available, patients do not need to take time off work or to pull away from other daily activities to get their screening mammogram.”
Women aged 40 and older should get a screening mammogram annually.
