Athens, Ga. (December 4, 2023) - Community education nurse and Safe Kids Coordinator, April Dorsett, BSN, RN, CPST, and Piedmont Athens Regional were selected as the November 2023 Oconee County Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) Business Partner of the Month. The CTAE programs involve integrated relationships between academic education and specific career opportunities, including careers in health sciences.

Dorsett has taught health science classes at both county high schools, covering topics like healthcare career paths, specifically nursing and the different job opportunities available for nurses, and health topics such as how sodium impacts blood pressure and how and why it is important to assess blood pressure. She has also taught students interested in careers in early childhood education the importance of injury prevention and techniques taught by Safe Kids to keep children safe. Dorsett also coordinates volunteer opportunities for students in the CTAE programs, providing hands-on experiences for them.
