Paramedics, Sheriff Named First Friday Heroes

Harris County, Ga. (July 7, 2023)— Piedmont Columbus Regional has named Brian Hollingsworth and Ashley DiSogra with Harris County EMS as well as Harris County Sheriff Mike Jolley the organization’s First Friday Heroes for the month of July.

Traveling down Highway 116 outside of Hamilton one evening, Harris County Sheriff Mike Jolley came upon a car fire on the side of the road and noticed that the driver was still trapped inside. Shortly after, the off-duty EMS crew of Brian Hollingsworth and Ashley DiSogra drove up. The trio was able to pull the woman from the car, but she suffered severe burns and was rushed to Piedmont Columbus Regional’s Emergency Trauma Center before being transported to an Augusta-area hospital for a higher level of care. Additionally, we’d like to thank Kim Rozier and Justin Dooley with Harris County EMS for their actions as they were dispatched to the scene. This woman likely would have died without the actions of everyone involved.

A ceremony with Hollingsworth, DiSogra, Jolley, Rozier, Dooley and hospital leadership will be held at a later date to commend them for their response. Their story is also featured throughout the hospital on commemorative posters and Piedmont Columbus Regional’s social media pages.

Piedmont Columbus Regional created the First Friday Hero program in mid-2016 to recognize first responders each month who have gone above and beyond the call of duty.

“Their line of work is often a thankless job and we want to make the community aware of our local heroes and all they do to make the Chattahoochee Valley a better and safer place,” said Piedmont Columbus Regional CEO Scott Hill.
