Columbus, Ga. (April 10, 2024) – The John B. Amos Cancer Center hosted free head and neck cancer screenings from 1 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9 in the June Wright Conference Room (2nd floor at the cancer center).
Head and neck cancers can affect our ability to speak, eat, drink and swallow. If found early, however, they can be successfully treated.
“You’re at risk if you use alcohol or tobacco, have persistent neck mass or pain in the mouth/throat or are infected with HPV,” said Gregory Foster, M.D., with the Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown Family Medicine Center.
Thirty-eight people were screened at the event; they received information about head and neck cancers as well as met with providers and support staff.
