Atlanta, Ga. (March 27, 2024) – On Match Day 2024, Piedmont Healthcare, the largest health system in Georgia, welcomed 87 medical school graduates into the Graduate Medical Education (GME) residency programs at three of its hospitals. Piedmont Athens Regional, Piedmont Columbus Regional, and Piedmont Macon Medical Center welcomed 31, 20, and 36 resident physicians respectively to their GME programs.
Medical school graduates apply and interview with GME programs across the country before learning on March 15, where they have “matched” to continue their education and training. At Piedmont, residents match into Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pharmacy, Psychiatry and Transitional Year residency programs. This next level of study lasts between one and three years, during which time residents gain valuable experience in hands-on patient care under the supervision of highly-trained specialists in their field of study.
Piedmont’s newest residents begin training on July 1, 2024.
