Vaccination vs. immunization

Fast fact: Vaccination vs. immunization

The terms immunization and vaccination are often used interchangeably, but did you know there is a difference between the two? As we reported in our interview with Andrew Brown, M.D., vaccinations are used to prevent a host of serious diseases and utilize dead or weakened bacteria or viruses to create immunity in the body.

Immunization refers to the process by which a person becomes immune to a disease, either through vaccination or by becoming infected with the disease.
