G. Anthony Slagel, D.O., earned his bachelor of science degree and graduated with honors from the University of Dayton, Ohio. He received his medical degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Slagel completed his internship at the Grandview Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio, and his residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He was Chief of Dermatology Service at Moncrief Army Community Hospital in Fort Jackson, South Carolina, prior to moving to Georgia. Dr. Slagel is board-certified in dermatology and laser surgery.
Prior to joining Piedmont, Dr. Slagel was in practice with the Fayette Medical Clinic since 1988. Dr. Slagel is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners and a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. He is a past president of the Georgia Society of Dermatologists, and he was chosen as one of America's Top Physicians 2003 by the Consumers Research Council of America.
Dr. Slagel believes medicine is as much an art as it is a science. He takes a hands-on approach with his patients and recognizes the works with each patient to develop an individualized treatment plan based on each patient's needs and circumstance. He has a special interest in lasers and the ability to use them in treating dermatologic conditions.
In his free time, Dr. Slagel enjoys spending time with his family on their farm and riding horses and his tractor.
