Augusta, Ga. (October 17, 2025) – Piedmont Augusta has announced the ribbon cutting of its new, state-of-the-art nuclear cardiology gamma camera imaging system at the Cardiovascular Imaging Center, located on the Piedmont Augusta main campus in Suite 5300.
Brent Robinson, chief operating officer of Piedmont Augusta, joined Jimel Carpenter, director of cardiovascular services, and members of the nuclear cardiology team to celebrate the occasion. The event highlighted Piedmont Augusta’s ongoing commitment to innovation and excellence in cardiovascular care.
“This technology represents a major advancement in how we care for our cardiovascular patients at this location,” Carpenter said. “Faster imaging times and higher resolution mean enhanced patient satisfaction, quicker diagnoses and better outcomes.”
Traditional gamma camera systems typically require 15 to 20 minutes per imaging session. In contrast, the MyoSPECT system completes most scans in just three to five minutes, offering a more efficient and comfortable experience for patients without compromising diagnostic quality.
The newly installed GE MyoSPECT imaging system, powered by advanced cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) technology, marks a significant leap forward in cardiac imaging. This cutting-edge system dramatically reduces imaging time while enhancing image resolution, resulting in improved diagnostic accuracy for nuclear stress tests.
The Cardiovascular Imaging Center continues to serve as a regional leader in cardiac diagnostics, and the addition of the MyoSPECT system reinforces Piedmont Augusta’s dedication to providing patients with the most advanced medical technologies available.
