Athens, Ga. (October 9, 2025) – Piedmont Athens Regional and Piedmont Physicians Group are pleased to welcome Sonia Richards, M.D., to Piedmont Primary Care in Bethlehem.

Dr. Richards has nearly 30 years of clinical experience, working closely with her patients on preventive medicine and lifestyle optimization. Her approach emphasizes empowering patients to take an active role in their health be providing evidence-based choices and helping them create sustainable habits.

Dr. Richards earned her medical degree from St. Matthews University School of Medicine and completed her family medicine residency at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Prior to attending medical school, she practiced as a Family Nurse Practitioner for 26 years, giving her a well-rounded perspective on patient care.

Dr. Richards specializes in the management of chronic conditions and has a particular interest in obesity and lifestyle medicine. She is now accepting new patients.
