Henry County Fire Rescue Crew Named Henry Heroes

Stockbridge, Ga. (October 8, 2025) – Piedmont Henry Hospital named Sgt. Sanchez Minor, Battalion Chief Drew Hand, Paramedic Lt. Joshua Garrison, Advanced EMT Kamari Shillingford, Advanced EMT Clifford Sherman, and Advanced EMT Lucas Schneeman with Henry County Fire Rescue Henry Heroes for their work with an infant who was in cardiac arrest.

The team received the call and was able to produce a return of spontaneous circulation in route to the Piedmont Henry Emergency Department. After arriving, the crew stayed with the staff at the hospital to further stabilize the baby and helped transport it to the hospital’s helipad for transfer to a children’s hospital.

“Many of the calls you receive are from individuals or families in crisis,” said David Kent, CEO of Piedmont Henry at a brief ceremony honoring the team. “We can’t do what we do without you, and your collaboration and partnership is greatly appreciated.”

Piedmont Henry created the Henry Heroes award to recognize first responders who have gone above and beyond the call of duty.

“I’d like to thank Piedmont Henry for recognizing our team for taking care of people and making a positive difference in their lives,” said Fire Chief Deron “Pat” Wilson.

Piedmont Henry has strengthened its emergency department and trauma program over recent years. The hospital has been designated a Level III Trauma Center. A Level III trauma center can assess a patient, resuscitate, perform surgical intervention, provide intensive care and stabilization of injured patients and emergency operations. Piedmont Henry’s trauma program has a surgeon available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and has neurosurgical support. In addition to providing care, the trauma program at Piedmont Henry provides leadership in prevention and public education to the community and offers continuing education for the nursing and allied health personnel on the trauma team.

“I know that healthcare can sometimes be a stressful or thankless job, so we wanted to be sure to say thank you for your efforts that day,” said Kent. “We also want to make our community aware of our local heroes and all you do to make Henry County a better and safer place.”
