Macon, Ga. (September 19, 2025) – General surgeon Brice A. Blum, M.D. has joined the Piedmont Physicians Surgical Specialists Macon practice on the campus of Piedmont Macon Medical Center.
Dr. Blum treats a wide spectrum of conditions ranging from breast and colon cancer, melanomas, gallbladder and appendix diseases to groin and abdominal wall hernias as well as other benign skin and soft tissue lesions.
“I am very comfortable offering both minimally invasive robotic and laparoscopic approaches to treat intra-abdominal diseases,” he said.
After earning his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville, Dr. Blum completed his residency through the Wake Forest School of Medicine. He earned his bachelor’s degree in bioengineering from Clemson University.
At Piedmont Physicians Surgical Specialists Macon, Dr. Blum joins five other surgeons: colon and rectal surgeon Sam Atallah, M.D., general surgeon Jamaal Crawford, M.D., general surgeon Keith Martin, M.D., general surgeon Earl Mullis, Jr., M.D., and general surgeon John T. Williams, M.D. The practice also includes two surgical nurse practitioners: Ae Mary Vilayvong Irwin and Melissa Bozarth Martin.
Dr. Blum, who started at the practice earlier this month, said he’s looking forward to practicing medicine in the midstate.
“I am ready to start taking care of patients from Macon and from the rest of Middle Georgia,” he said. “I’m excited to be part of this growing practice.”
Outside of medicine, Dr. Blum said he enjoys running, traveling, music, fine coffee and watching college football. He is accepting new patients and welcomes most major insurance plans.
