Stockbridge, Ga. (September 11, 2025) – Piedmont Henry Hospital recently hosted their annual Promise 360 Awards Celebration. The event recognized the hospital’s monthly winners from the past year and named the overall champion for the year for the hospital and a runner-up.
Kelly Wilson, an RN in Piedmont Henry’s Pre-Op department, was named the champion this year. She was nominated for her being a champion of patient-centered care, focused on safety. Wilson had a patient whose primary language was not English. When it became clear that the patient did not fully understand the ramifications of a procedure, she put Piedmont’s error prevention tools to use. She made sure to stop the line. After having a discussion, the patient felt comfortable, fully understood what was going on and was able to make an affirmative decision about her care.
“Kelly did a tremendous job showing care and compassion to a patient in a challenging situation,” said Piedmont Henry CEO David Kent. “Taking the time to ensure understanding prevented a potential error. It also showed that our team remains focused on providing the best experience for all our patients.”
This year’s runners-up were Amy Dorsey, a radiologic technologist, and Caitlin Freeman, an RN in the emergency department. Dorsey found a safer alternative for treatment when she realized a patient was pregnant, while Freeman stayed over to stabilize a seven-day old baby in cardiac arrest for transfer.
“Our nominees this year were shining examples of providing outstanding care,” said Kent. “They kept the patient at the center of their actions and took ownership of some difficult situations.”
Patients, visitors, fellow staff members or department leaders can nominate employees who go above and beyond for others for a Promise 360 award. The overall winner from each hospital in the Piedmont system becomes a nominee for the President’s Award which will be presented later this year.
