Conyers, Ga. (August 28, 2025) – To celebrate World Breastfeeding Month, Piedmont Rockdale Hospital participated in community events focused on breastfeeding education and support.
In early August, members of the Piedmont Rockdale women’s services team joined the Breastfeeding Walk at Centerville Health Center in Snellville, hosted by the WIC offices of Rockdale, Newton, and Gwinnett Counties. The walk provided education on the benefits of continued breastfeeding for both current and former breastfeeding mothers. Attendees received gift baskets and a free infant car seat.
Later in the month, Piedmont Rockdale partnered to present a breastfeeding awareness event at Springfield Baptist Church in Conyers. The event featured educational materials covering topics like choosing a breast pump, proper latch techniques, infant feeding cues, and managing engorgement. Information was shared about antepartum, childbirth, lactation, and postpartum support.
Piedmont Rockdale has recently expanded its lactation support services to include three Lactation Consultants available on weekends. In-person childbirth classes are now being offered, and in-person breastfeeding classes will begin on September 13. Group tours have also resumed on Saturdays and Sundays.
