Piedmont Macon Supports Back-to-School and Clothing Drives this Summer

Macon, Ga. (August 12, 2025) – When basic needs are met, individuals are better positioned to lead healthier lives, and that includes the youngest community members.

This back-to-school season, Piedmont Macon stepped into action to ensure students in our community had the essentials they needed to be healthy and start the school year on the right foot. Thanks to the generosity of Piedmont Macon’s employees, children at the Kolbe Center and Brookdale Resource Center received essential items such as diapers, socks and undergarments.

These everyday necessities help promote comfort, dignity and better health—laying the groundwork for children to succeed both in and out of the classroom.

Both the Kolbe Center and Brookdale Resource Center are among Piedmont Macon’s community partners. The Kolbe Center assists women facing unplanned or planned pregnancies “through compassion and care,” according to the organization’s website. The center offers pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, diapers and wipes, formula, infant car seats and more to mothers and their families.

The Brookdale Resource Center focuses its efforts on helping the unhoused of Macon. In partnership with United Way of Central Georgia, the center offers emergency housing, transitional housing and serves as a resource center – including food and clothing – for families and individuals experiencing homelessness.

Piedmont Macon’s commitment to supporting local families also extended to the Bibb County Back-to-School Bash. Partnering with both Piedmont Urgent Care and Piedmont Occupational Medicine, Piedmont Macon distributed more than 1,200 bags of glue sticks and hand sanitizer to students. These supplies help students stay healthy and fully participate in learning activities from the very first day of school.

“At our core, our Piedmont hospitals are here to care for this community, and that isn’t limited to just the people in our hospital beds,” said Robin Parker, executive director of Community Development & Patient Support Services at Piedmont Macon. “By participating in clothing and school supply drives, we’re helping to meet our neighbors’ everyday needs and investing in the future of our children. We want to make a positive difference in the lives of everyone we touch.”
